ORGANIZATION

The Association was established in 1962 as the Michigan Department of Conservation Retirees Association.  We have undergone several name changes over the years.  Our current name for legal purposes is “Michigan DNR DEQ Retirees Association”; however, membership is open to all retirees from successor agencies, and we are known informally as “DNR, DEQ, and EGLE Retirees Association”.

The Association is independently operated by our members.  It is administered by a Board of Directors that is selected by the membership every two years at the Annual Meeting. Membership dues are $10.00 per calendar year.

MISSION

  • To promote and maintain fellowship among retirees of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).

  • To promote improvement of the State Retirement System for both active and retired State employees.

  • To support education related to natural resources and environmental issues.

SERVICES

  • Association newsletter three times per year

  • Summer picnics, local and regional meetings, and a state-wide annual meeting

  • Email updates on retirees’ life events and other member news items

  • Retirees Directory issued biannually with all known retirees’ names

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Association is organized exclusively for social, charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  All gifts are tax deductible to the donor.
